From Sketch to Image Render: Generating Architectural Renderings with ComfyUI and Stable Diffusion
Architects and designers know the power of a napkin sketch in communicating design intent. You can rapidly produce high-quality renderings from your initial sketches, streamlining your workflow and design. This is expanding from my previous post exploring new workflows that can apply directly to an architectural design, as a valuable toolset.
Stable Diffusion: This AI model, trained on a vast dataset of images and text, can generate realistic architectural renderings based on your textual descriptions.
ComfyUI: This user-friendly interface acts as a bridge, allowing you to leverage Stable Diffusion's capabilities without extensive coding knowledge.
Sketch Preparation:
For optimal results in ComfyUI, ensure your sketches are high contrast (black lines on white background), and minimal details. Consider using vector drawing software like Adobe Fresco for precise linework and easy refinement.
Crafting Powerful Prompts:
This is where your design expertise comes to life:
Positive Prompt: Describe the architectural style, materials, lighting, and overall atmosphere you envision.
Negative Prompt: list any unwanted elements to refine the image.
Leveraging your Sketch:
ComfyUI allows you to import your sketch as a "control net." This guides the AI towards your vision. A clean, black-and-white sketch significantly improves the AI's understanding of your intent.
Generate and Refine:
Click "Generate" and watch Stable diffusion bring your sketch to life.
Experiment with prompt variations, and adjust settings within ComfyUI. Each iteration is then saved and brought into Adobe Fresco as a new layer with a new correction sketch overlay. New refinements are brought back in comfyui, continually progressing the design process.
I hope this process helps all the designers out there. Please comment if you'd like more info on this process and exploration.
